Every frame deserves its own sound
When a film reaches for emotion, music is what catches it. I am Orazio Saracino, a composer who writes original scores for cinema. My approach begins with the script, not the screen, and with the emotion, not the effect. I work with directors and editors to shape music that moves in step with the story, frame by frame.
My experience spans feature films, shorts, and poetic branded films. What matters most to me is whether the music helps the story speak. I compose everything from scratch. There are no templates, no repurposed tracks, no shortcuts. Every note is written to reflect your tone, rhythm, and vision.
Projects I’ve worked on include:
- Mundije, a feature-length drama with Eric Roberts and George Lazenby
- Winter Can’t Wait, a visual short directed by Paolo Sorrentino for Moncler
- Rage, which earned me Best Music in a Short Film at Bridge Fest in Vancouver
I studied classical composition and jazz piano at the Conservatory of Bari, followed by a master’s in music for film and television. My compositions have been nominated internationally, and my work continues to evolve with each collaboration.
Composing for film is an ongoing dialogue. My role is to listen carefully to the story and respond through sound. For directors who value emotional nuance and musical intention, I provide original scores that support the narrative without ever overwhelming it.
How do you approach scoring a feature film?
I start by discussing the film’s themes and emotional direction with the director, then create musical concepts that evolve alongside the edit, ensuring the score enhances the narrative.
Can you compose in different musical genres for film?
Yes. My background in classical, jazz, and contemporary music allows me to work across multiple genres, adapting the style to suit the film’s mood and setting.
What is the typical timeline for creating a film score?
It varies depending on the project’s length and complexity. Most feature films require several weeks to a few months from concept to final delivery.
Do you work with both independent and major film productions?
Absolutely. I collaborate with both independent filmmakers and established studios, tailoring my process to each project’s scope and resources.
Can you adapt existing compositions for a film project?
Yes. I can re-arrange, orchestrate, or re-record existing music to fit the pacing, mood, and requirements of the film.
